Scope of practice
What this practice does, and what it does not.
This page exists so that you can rule me out quickly. It is more useful to know in four minutes that I am the wrong person than to find out in week five.

What this practice does
Practical coaching on specific, agreed difficulties: routines, transitions, sleep timing, workload, communication with schools and employers.
Preparing for meetings: what to say, what to write down, what to ask for, and how to end a meeting that has stopped being useful.
Environmental adjustment: changing the demands, the timing, and the sensory conditions rather than the person meeting them.
Burnout recovery planning for autistic adults, including the unglamorous arithmetic of what has to be dropped.
Writing things down. Every session produces a written summary you can forward, ignore, or hand to someone else.

What this practice does not do
None of the following is a judgment about whether the thing is worth doing. It is simply not what I am qualified or willing to provide.
Diagnosis or assessment of any kind. I do not assess for autism, ADHD, or anything else, and I cannot write a report that a school district or hearing officer will accept as diagnostic evidence.
Psychotherapy, trauma processing, or treatment for eating disorders, psychosis, OCD, or self-harm. These need a clinician, and I will say so in the first conversation.
Crisis or after-hours support. I do not hold risk between sessions and I am not reachable in an emergency.
Applied Behavior Analysis, compliance training, or any program whose aim is to make an autistic person appear less autistic.
Medication, dietary, or supplement advice. I will not comment on either, including when asked directly.
Legal advice on IEPs, 504 plans, due-process hearings, or employment disputes. I can help you prepare what you want to say; I cannot tell you what the law entitles you to.
Expert-witness work, or reports written for the purpose of a dispute between parents.
If you need help now
Where to go instead of here
I do not hold risk between sessions. If someone is in danger now, these are the right numbers, and using them is not an overreaction.

If what you need is outside my scope, write to me anyway. I keep a short list of clinicians, advocates, and education attorneys around Mountain View and the wider Bay Area whom I would send my own family to. hello@glideslope.practice
